Why Does Someone Take Drugs?

Young man and woman using drugs

Let’s take a look at drugs. Why do some people take drugs?

The simple answer is that it solves a person’s problems by creating a different mood. You feel more daring or life feels more fun or an unpleasant problem you were facing fades away.

Drugs create an illusion. What does that mean? It could mean that instead of being worried about your desperate financial situation or a broken relationship, you feel like everything is great. But it’s not. You’ll only feel great as long as you’re high. Then life’s problems will rush back in.

As long as you’re using drugs, you won’t actually be looking at your life as it really is. When a family or a business is involved, focusing on the illusions created by drugs can be catastrophic because you’ll ignore the problems and let the family or business go to ruin. How can the delusional effect of harmful drugs be better than a life filled with interesting experiences where you learn new things and develop as a person?

Think about it…

Perhaps you’ve reached a point where your life feels too hard and you feel like you need something that cheers you up. Or even better, maybe you want something that helps you to forget about life entirely! That is truly a road to disaster.

You certainly didn’t mean to become addicted when you tried a drug for the first time. Maybe your friends seemed to be enjoying themselves. And no one seemed to be getting hurt. Maybe you just wanted to join them in the fun.

Whatever the reason, if you feel that now is the time to take control of your life, talk to one of our consultants at Narconon Europe. They can help you get through this, all the way to a new sober life you can truly enjoy.

Good luck, my friend!
