The Reason Why I Came to Narconon

I was so badly addicted to drugs that I couldn’t even take care of my mother and my family when they needed me.

One time, when my mother was sick, she wanted me to take her to the hospital, but I was so stoned that I couldn’t move. But what was even worse was when my son was born, I was high on drugs and I didn’t know what was happening around me.

Can you imagine that? You are becoming a father, which is one of the most beautiful things in life, and you are high on drugs. I love my son and that is actually one of the major reasons why I came to Narconon. Now that I am here and sober, I can now feel real love towards my son—it is truly amazing how much you can love another human being.

I know with certainty that the program works when it is followed as it is laid out—you don’t stop or take breaks in the middle because there is a high risk of relapse. Cleaning your body is one part of being sober, but another factor—which is as important as cleaning the body—is cleaning the mind. This is addressed in the last two steps of the Narconon program.

I am now on the Objectives section and I have already had so many wins. One of them and the most important—is that I can focus on one thing at a time and do well. My focus right now is my family and especially my son. I have to say that everything in life comes and goes, but the one thing that stays forever is family. That is the most important lesson I have learned—they love me and now I can love them back. I feel their love for me even more now that I am sober.

I am currently on Objective Exercise #4 and know that there are more wins to come—I already feel like a better man and I plan to get even better.
