Restoring Energy and Enthusiasm for Life

A struggling man.

When a person first arrives at a Narconon drug rehab center, they normally arrive very deeply affected by their time spent addicted. And it’s no wonder. During that time, each person was struggling desperately with cravings that set in as soon as the last dose of heroin, cocaine, alcohol or marijuana wore off. They lived a life not of their choosing—no matter what anyone says, no one chose to become addicted. They reached for a drug to dull anxiety, to party with friends, to blot out pain or problems. And then they found that the need for drugs possessed them and drove them every day.

From then on, they were compelled to continue the habit of acquiring and using drugs. By the time they arrive at Narconon, they are likely to have alienated a spouse, parents, siblings and friends. They may have lost multiple jobs or perhaps they destroyed a profitable business. They’ve broken the law many times, harming others as they did so. This life was painful and the only way they could survive was to keep using drugs.

Even when they arrive at rehab, they don’t automatically brighten up and gain hope for the future. There are many reasons for this, but primary among them is the heavy burden of residual drugs they carry in their bodies. Every time they consumed drugs, their bodies did their best to break down the toxic substances so these substances could be discharged from the body. But as science has proven, they are incompletely eliminated. Residues from these drugs and alcohol are stored in the fatty tissues of the body where they can continue to color one’s outlook and mood.

This is the reason for the New Life Detoxification. After a person completes the initial withdrawal from the drugs they were using, and once their sleeping, appetite and moods are stable, they commence this unique and innovative detoxification step.

Beginning at a low level, each person exercises, follows a very specific regimen of nutritional supplements and spends time sweating in a sauna each day. As they become acclimated to this process, they increase their supplementation and time in the sauna. The supplements are specifically designed to support the body’s detoxification of these drug and alcohol residues.

The light at the end of the tunnel.

Day by day, drug residues are drawn out of fatty tissues and washed away in the sweat. And day by day, each person is less affected by the presence of these substances in his or her body. It’s very common for them to notice an improved perception of their environment, and to remark on how their outlook is brighter. And many people state that their physical cravings for drugs are lower, more manageable or even gone.

This is the right way to start one’s new, sober life. From here, each person will learn how to enjoy and protect their sobriety with stronger life skills. It’s vital for each Narconon graduate to know how to avoid the pitfalls and successfully meet the challenges they’ll run into after rehab. After all, these were the factors led them to crave that first taste of drugs years before.

Here’s what one Narconon graduate said as they completed the New Life Detoxification:

“It was not just the body that was clean, my mind also became clear and sharp. I noticed how my feelings came alive again.”

“When I was on drugs, I could not perceive my surroundings very well. Emotionally, I could not perceive my own feelings. Now, after the New Life Detoxification, I feel fantastic. I could feel the toxins left behind from drugs disappearing from my body. Along the way, my mood went up and down but gradually, this became better and better. It was not just the body that was clean, my mind also became clear and sharp. I noticed how my feelings came alive again.

Man standing in sunshine.

“My energy and enthusiasm were renewed. The Narconon program is truly unique and I am very grateful to Narconon. This is a fantastic and incredible success.”
