Learning My Purpose in Life

Young man in the mountains

“I have been wrestling with addiction for more than 25 years. I had tried some drugs here and there, but my main problem has always been with alcohol.

“When my alcohol addiction was at its worst, I went from house to house and from friend to friend, crashing at different places. I felt unwelcome at all of them. I used to wake up late in the afternoon and after relaxing after a drink, I wondered what I should do with my life.

“I tried a 30-day treatment program but I only lasted one week there. At that point, I felt like I was at a total dead end and I didn’t know what to do next.

“Then my mom and dad told me that they had found the perfect place for me. As soon as I arrived there, I knew that Narconon was the right place for me. Everyone was so friendly. Not a single person—not staff or student—looked down on me. Everyone was full of energy and enthusiasm.

“I studied the life skills lessons that are part of the Narconon rehab program and began to apply these skills to my own life to solve practical problems and get to the heart of the reasons for my addiction.

“Now I wake up early in the morning to start my new day and can hardly wait to get started.”

“Now I wake up early in the morning to start each new day and can hardly wait to get started. Knowing that I have a purpose is the greatest lesson I learned from doing the Narconon program.”
