My Life Was Scandalous

I thought my life was inside of only one room. I had a terrible time and ruined everything in my life and my family also. Before, my life was scandalous.

My son was born and I would never want him to grow up with a “junkie” as his father. I came here for rehab and I met with Erikson—I saw him like a brother that I never had. I also met Elton, who supported me through each step of the program. He is now a friend to me and my family. I continued detox and at first, it seemed too long but then after some days I started to like it because I could feel all the improvements—everything was getting out of my system. After I finished that step, I thought I was good—but I was wrong.

I had to do the objectives to start feeling love for everything again, something that I had lost to addiction. I began missing my son and I realized I loved him more than anything in the world. I always loved him but yet I did not know it. After objectives, I thought I was ready for everything but no—I was wrong again.

I started the Life Skills courses and I finally understood who were the people that wanted me to succeed. Before that, I thought the people I was taking drugs with were the ones that really wanted me at my best. I unburdened the harmful acts I had done in the past and I made plans for my life in the future—to improve everything and correct what I had done wrong. I had been living inside one room alone and now I can be all over the world.

I want to thank everybody for bringing joy to my life. I am going away from here with a sad heart but I cannot wait to give all my love to my son and to be an ideal father for him. I want to stay with my family, my mother, and father because I miss them after all these years. I want to see them happy and proud of their son. I want to make my wife happy because I was not there for her so many times in the past.

One more time, Thank you all!!!
