A Better Person Than I Used to Be
One of the major components of the Narconon drug rehab program is called the Objectives. This step is composed of a series of exercises that gradually enable each person to leave the pain and trauma of the past behind and much more fully embrace the present.
Years of addiction create such a heavy burden of emotional and mental damage. Each day, those in recovery at Narconon become students of a new way to live and communicate with others. This is where our students can find joy, lightness and self-control in their lives one again.
Small steps taken each day accumulate into a dramatically different viewpoint on life and a renewed ability to take charge of one’s actions and even one’s thoughts. Below, one of our students tells us about the changes he experienced on this action.

I am very satisfied with my progress on the Objectives, I am proud that I take it day by day and step by step.
I can now turn negative things into positive things. I no longer get stuck in negative events or emotions like I did at the beginning of my program. I have patience and I am very calm because I keep improving myself each day.
Each day has new challenges and I face them without fear. Each step of the Objectives teaches me to listen and makes me more aware of what I am doing. I also become more aware of my environment.
“My goal is not to be better than everybody else but just to be a better person than I used to be.”
My goal is not to be better than everybody else but just to be a better person than I used to be. Nobody is perfect but everybody is special in his own way. I care a lot about people but now I really care about myself more and that feels great.
